You know that adage…I think by Zig Ziglar…that “a goal not written is only a wish“?
I do a fair amount of writing of goals & plans in a notebook, and I force myself to re-read it every once in a while…so I guess that means they’re not “wishes“.
But hiding away your plans and goals in a notebook is just that: hiding them away. It’s sometimes tough to remember & organize those writings into concrete plans.
I think I’ve mentioned before that one of my best years of reaching goals was when I wrote out wants/wishes/goals on a piece of paper & stuck it on my bathroom mirror. I reached a ton of those goals by February 15th, having started Jan 1st.
Many of the other goals were sort of put on the back-burner, until I noticed them magically getting achieved one by one! I attribute that to having those “wants” written out & constantly in view. Perhaps subconsciously I was taking micro-steps towards accomplishing them.
For some reason I haven’t kept up this practice.
But I just bought myself a white board to stick right next to my desk. I’m itching to get started filling it out & planning out the rest of the year.
Get your goals AND STEPS to reach those goals written out, and put it where you can see them. If you don’t, the chances of you slipping back into your old ways are pretty high.
